Claim. Restoring the foundation of faith requires fulfilling numerical indemnity periods to recover the pre-Fall numbers Satan defiled. DP names four: twelve, four, twenty-one, and forty. Each is derived structurally from the growing period and the four position foundation, then multiplied by ten (the number of unity) when prolongation requires expansion.
Elaboration. Per Part 2 Ch 4 §2.4:
- Twelve — Each position in the four position foundation passes through the three growth stages (4×3=12) and accomplishes the three object purpose (4×3=12). Restoring this number appears as the 120 years to build the ark, the 120-year Mosaic Canaan-restoration course, and the 120 years from Abraham’s call to Jacob’s purchase of the birthright.
- Four — The four-position foundation entered upon completion (three growth stages + direct dominion = fourth stage). Examples: Noah’s 40-day flood, Moses’s 40-day fasts, the 40-day spy mission, Jesus’s 40-day fast, Jesus’s 40-day post-resurrection ministry.
- Twenty-one — Three stages × seven (number of heaven-and-earth completion) = 21. Examples: Noah’s dove sent at 7-day intervals = 21 days total; Jacob’s three 7-year periods in Haran = 21 years; the 210-year Babylonian exile-and-return; the 210-year papal-exile-and-return.
- Forty — Each of four positions passes through ten levels (3 growth stages × 3 sub-stages + direct dominion = 10) → 4×10 = 40. Examples: 40 days between Ararat-landing and dove-sending; Moses’s 40 years in Pharaoh’s palace; Moses’s 40 years in Midian; the 40-year wilderness course.
When prolongation requires further extension, periods of forty are multiplied by ten: forty-day → forty-year → four-hundred-year → four-thousand-year (the four thousand biblical years from Adam to Jesus).
Significance. This is DP’s numerical-providence engine. It generates falsifiable chronology — every restoration claim of the form period X of length N restored period Y of length N depends on this number-derivation. The doctrine also commits DP to biblical chronology literally: Adam ≈ 4000 BCE, sixteen hundred years to Noah, four hundred years Noah-to-Abraham. If the biblical lengths are symbolic rather than chronometric, the numerical-restoration argument has no operational content.
