Claim. Dominion over creation has two aspects, both lost at the fall and both being restored in the present age. Internal dominion is dominion of the heart — the capacity to love creation with the love that flows from God. External dominion is mastery through science and technology. Present-day scientific and economic advancement is the providential restoration of external dominion, riding on the internal restoration of spirituality.
Elaboration. Per 4.3. Signs of the Restoration of the Third Blessing: “Internal dominion denotes dominion of the heart. A person who reaches perfection and comes fully to resonate with God in heart will experience God’s Heart as his own reality.” Without this, fallen humans cannot relate to creation through God’s love. The slow internal restoration through “religion, philosophy, ethics and so forth” lifts spirituality toward this capacity.
External dominion is “proper mastery of the creation through science and technology.” Had humanity reached perfection, scientific advancement would have been native to the unfallen state, with sensibility to creation’s spiritual dimension naturally driving material understanding. The fall stunted both: humans descended to primitive sensibility and primitive mastery. The advancement of science now is therefore the recovery of native capacity, not the achievement of a fallen civilization.
DP reads modern globalization — one international market, transportation overcoming time-and-space, world-government aspirations — as the convergence side of this restoration. The condition for true global family-formation remains the appearance of the True Parents at the Second Advent (dp-sun-moon-stars-symbolize-jesus-holy-spirit-believers).
