Claim. SMM teaches that without entering the realm of heart there is no restoration, and that even Jesus has no path forward except by going through True Parents — the person responsible for restoration must hold onto True Parents as the central axis.
Elaboration. The dense claim in Section 9. What You Need to Take Heed of is structural: ‘Without entering the realm of heart, we will not be restored. Therefore, the person who is responsible for restoration must proceed while holding onto True Parents. Even Jesus has no way without going through True Parents.’
This is a striking ordering. Classical Christian theology has Jesus as the one through whom all restoration flows (John 14:6, ‘No one comes to the Father except through me’). SMM inverts the direction at the eschatological horizon: Jesus’ own work, having been left incomplete at the cross (a position developed throughout DP), can only reach completion as Jesus himself participates in the True Parents’ providence. Even the saints in the spirit world advance only as the earthly restoration advances.
The move is consistent with broader UC eschatology: the Second Coming is not Jesus’ personal return but the appearance of a new figure (True Parents) who completes what Jesus could not finish because of the crucifixion. The cross saved spiritually but not physically; only physical-and-spiritual salvation through True Parents’ blessing and lineage completes the providence.
The horizontal-line image is important: ‘With True Parents as the central axis you should form a perfectly horizontal line centering on True Parents’ love.’ Vertical alignment with True Parents creates horizontal solidarity among all who are so aligned. This is the four-position-foundation generalized to communal scale.
The practical consequence: even devout Christians who relate to Jesus directly are, in UC theology, missing a necessary step. This is the doctrinally sharpest edge of UC’s relationship to Christianity and the most-contested point in Christian apologetic engagement. Evangelical critics typically engage on John 14:6 and 1 Timothy 2:5 (‘one mediator’); UC apologists engage on Jesus’ lack of completed family and the unfinished portion of the messianic mission.
