Claim. The ideal person is constituted when the invisible vertical mind (God) and the visible horizontal body (True Parents) unite at a ninety-degree angle through true love, forming the nucleus of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Elaboration. SMM maps the mind-body relation onto the vertical-horizontal cosmology: ‘The vertical mind is God, and the horizontal body is True Parents. They are one. Although the mind is invisible, it is nevertheless vertical. And although the body is visible, it is horizontal. It is this ninety-degree angle that people like’ (Section 4. The Kingdom of Heaven and True Love The coming of True Parents marks the beginning of a new love, a new cul-).
The family then ‘is an encapsulation of the whole universe’ — the spiritual realm exists within the person as mind/heart, and the body represents the world. When mind and body ‘revolve in all directions based on the center,’ i.e., do not leave the central point of true love, they constitute an ideal person and complete spiritual maturity.
True love itself is bifurcated: ‘Two kinds: vertical true love and horizontal true love, which are at ninety degrees to each other.’ The vertical axis is God-to-person; the horizontal axis is person-to-person, archetypally husband-and-wife. The Kingdom of Heaven ‘begins from the love of a man and a woman’ precisely because their union at the center, under God, instantiates the cross of vertical and horizontal love.
The fruit of this union is ‘love, life and lineage received from God’ — the same triad invoked throughout SMM’s teaching to identify what is transmitted through the blessing. The mind-body anthropology here is therefore not just psychological but lineage-bearing: each individual’s interior integration is the microcosm of the cosmic structure they will reproduce in marriage and offspring. This atomic provides the anthropological substrate for SMM’s claim that the Kingdom is built family by family rather than soul by soul — connecting to four-position-foundation and sungsang-hyungsang.
