Claim. The entire six thousand year providence of restoration is, at its core, God’s effort to establish True Parents on earth, proceeding through staged restoration of the servant, adopted son, and child of direct lineage positions.
Elaboration. SMM compresses all of providential history into a single telos: “the six-thousand-year history of the providence of restoration has been a history to find the True Parents” (1.4. The providence of restoration has sought the True Parents throughout its history). The staging is ordered: servant age → adopted son age → children’s age → parents’ age. Each stage requires a representative figure to win an individual victory over Satan before the next can begin.
The Old Testament course from Noah to Abraham to Jacob laid the foundation of the people of Israel and the foundation of a nation. Jesus’ role was then to ascend through the servant and adopted son positions to become son of direct lineage and ultimately True Parent — but the disbelief of Israel forced him to die on the cross before the parental position could be substantially established. This is why the cross is, in UC theology, a fallback rather than the original blueprint.
The claim has strong structural consequences. First, it relativizes every previous religion as preparatory infrastructure for the True Parents’ arrival. Second, it places the Second Advent figure on a continuum with Jesus rather than as a parallel Christ-event — the returning Lord inherits from Jesus the spiritual foundation built up in the spirit-world over two thousand years, analogous to Jesus inheriting from John the Baptist. Third, it makes “finding True Parents” the organizing rubric under which every providential event (covenants, prophets, the chosen people, Christianity’s global spread) is to be read.
This is a maximalist historiographical claim and one of the load-bearing planks of divine-principle theology. Critics typically engage on whether the biblical canon actually supports a staged servant/adopted-son/direct-lineage schema, or whether this is read back into the text from the conclusion.
