Claim. SMM founded three organizations — the Unification Church, the Federation for Victory Over Communism, and the Citizen’s Federation — each with a distinct function in enabling the proclamation of True Parents and the unification of Korea.
Elaboration. SMM names a tri-organizational architecture supporting the proclamation (2.4.3. The coming of the heavenly fortune for unification):
- Unification Church: “founded for the purpose of providing spiritual guidance in order to build a firm foundation for educating the conscience.” This is the interior, conscience-formation organ.
- Federation for Victory Over Communism (VOC): “established to offer protection against the communist world.” This is the defensive ideological organ. Notably SMM says “we can unify the North and South only when we are protected from the communist world” — VOC is a precondition for unification, not an alternative to it.
- Citizen’s Federation: “founded in order to unify North and South Korea.” This is the unification-execution organ.
The sequence reveals SMM’s providential logic: first build conscience (UC), then protect against the encroachment that would derail unification (VOC), then execute unification (Citizen’s Federation). Each organ is necessary; none is sufficient alone. “Satan has been attacking the Unification Church to prevent us from building that foundation. However, I have now made all the indemnity conditions, returned to my homeland and proclaimed the True Parents.”
This matters for sociological reading of the unification-church movement: the church proper is not the whole movement. The constellation of organizations — and later additions like IRFWP, FWP, and others mentioned in 1.3 — are functionally differentiated arms of one providential effort. Outsiders often read these as front groups or unrelated NGOs; SMM’s own self-understanding is that they are organically related to the proclamation of true-parents.
