Claim. True Parents are not just Adam and Eve but the union of internal parent (God, the vertical mind-like father) and external parents (unfallen Adam-Eve, the horizontal body-like parents) bonded through love.

Elaboration. SMM’s anatomy: God ‘becomes the internal parent in the internal position and Adam and Eve, the external parents in the external position. The internal parent and external parents must become one through love.’ God is ‘like the bone’ and Adam-Eve are ‘like the body’; together they form the perfected True Parents (5.2. The definition of True Parents).

The deeper formulation comes via the vertical/horizontal axis: ‘the father who can represent the mind is God and the father who can represent the body is the first ancestor of unfallen true love.’ Without the fall, God’s vertical love and human horizontal love would have automatically bonded at one point — ‘the root of our ancestors’ lineage’ — and all descendants would inherit both divine and parental characteristics (5.3. True Parents are the embodiment of good character).

The Fall ruptured this by separating man’s love, woman’s love, and God’s love. restoration therefore requires rebuilding the three-way bond. This is the structural backbone of the four-position-foundation: God at the top, husband and wife on the horizontal, children below — all interlocked through love.

Three implications: (1) True Parents are not human alone; they are constitutively a God-human composite, which is why the term refers to a position more than to two persons; (2) lineage inheritance is not just biological but includes divine nature transmitted through the love-bond; (3) the dual-characteristics of God (sungsang/hyungsang, internal/external) map onto this internal-external parent structure.

The heavy lift: SMM is claiming that perfected humans are ‘like God’s body’ — a strong incarnational claim that may strike Christian readers as either congenial (theosis traditions in Orthodoxy) or transgressive (creature-Creator distinction). The Confucian and Korean cultural backdrop of vertical-horizontal cosmology helps situate the metaphysics. Critics will engage on whether God can be ‘one’ with humans in this strong sense without compromising divine transcendence.
