Elaboration. SMM addresses the obvious filial paradox: ‘I did not give birth to you, and yet I am still considered your parent? Yes, but there is one main difference: I am a parent who can connect you to God’s love – original love. Who then was Adam? He was a parent who was to have become your ancestor, but he could not connect you to God’s love. This is why your parents also cannot connect you to God’s love’ (Section 4. The claim is structurally radical: it relativizes biological parenthood against a higher spiritual-lineage parenthood. SMM explicitly defends listening to True Parents over one’s biological parents as ‘righteousness, because this is the principle of the cosmos.’ This collides directly with traditional Confucian filial piety (especially in Korean cultural context) and with the Decalogue’s ‘honor your father and mother’ — which is why ex-member and evangelical-critique literature targets exactly this passage as evidence of high-control religion.
The theological mechanism is the lineage doctrine: Adam’s fall severed the love-conduit from God to descendants, so all subsequent biological parents transmit fallen, not original, love. Only a parent positioned outside the fallen lineage (the messiah) can re-open the conduit. Worth a thread once a counter atomic engages on whether this overrides the fifth commandment or reframes ‘honor’ to a higher level rather than displacing it. The doctrine also explains why the blessing sacrament is necessary — it formally re-engrafts blessed couples into the original lineage.
