Claim. SMM teaches that the Bible’s exclusive purpose is to lead readers to find True Parents — and that once True Parents have been proclaimed and met, the Bible is no longer needed, because nature itself and all creation desire and call out for True Parents.
Elaboration. SMM makes a striking claim about the function of scripture: “We do not need the Bible. The purpose of the Bible is solely to find the True Parents. So the name ‘True Parents’ is most precious” (2.6. How we should conduct ourselves after the proclamation of True Parents). The Bible is therefore instrumental, not terminal — a finding-guide that completes its task once the object of finding is encountered.
The surrounding rhetoric uses an extraordinary cosmological scope: “Your ears want to seek out the True Parents; so do your nose, mouth and eyes… All of nature desires the True Parents. The creation says, ‘True Parents, please stay here with us always.’ Nature cries out.” The desire is built into creation itself, so once true-parents appear, every sensory organ and every creature recognizes them. “True mother, true husband, true wife, true children, true grandchildren and true patriots all emerge from them. Everything starts from there. This is the gospel with the greatest hope.”
The ecclesial consequence is significant: if the Bible’s function is exhausted by the proclamation of True Parents, then scripture-based religion (including established Christianity) is structurally obsolete for those who have encountered True Parents. The branch metaphor follows: “If you think of True Parents as a tree, you are its branches that can thrive wherever they are planted.”
This is one of the sharpest evangelical-critique fault lines in the corpus. Evangelical readers typically engage on (a) whether scripture functions as norma normans non normata (rule that rules and is not ruled) and therefore cannot be superseded by any later figure, and (b) whether the gospel can be reduced to “find True Parents” without distorting NT soteriology. SMM’s defenders read the claim as fulfillment rather than replacement — the Bible aimed at this all along. The tension with Romans 10 and 2 Timothy 3:15-17 is acute.
