Claim. Within any created individual truth being there are three kinds of subject-object relationships: Sungsang and Hyungsang, yang and yin, and principal element (being) and subordinate element (being) — the third pair existing because the created world is temporal and spatial.

Elaboration. Lee adds a third subject-object pair beyond the two found in the Original Image (B. Subject and Object). Parents and children, teachers and students, sun and earth, nucleus and cytoplasm — these are neither sungsang and hyungsang relationships nor yang/yin relationships, but principal/subordinate relationships. The distinguishing feature: these only arise because creation occurs in time and space, which permits two beings of the same kind to stand in a relation of priority.

Lee gives a detailed system-of-individual-truth-beings: cosmos (spirit world/physical world, Sungsang/Hyungsang) → universe → galaxy (nucleus principal, stars subordinate) → solar system (sun principal, planets subordinate) → earth (core principal, surface subordinate) → earth’s surface (humans principal beings, natural things subordinate beings) → nation (government principal, people subordinate) → family (parents/children principal/subordinate; husband/wife yang/yin) → person (spirit self/physical self Sungsang/Hyungsang) → body (brain principal, limbs subordinate) → cell (nucleus principal, cytoplasm subordinate) → chromosome (DNA principal, proteins subordinate) → DNA molecule → atom (protons/neutrons principal, electrons subordinate) → elementary particle.

Two crucial points: (1) ‘individual truth being’ is relative — the solar system is an individual truth being from one viewpoint but a component of the galaxy from another; (2) ‘subject’ and ‘object’ are relative — the sun is subject to its planets but object to the galactic center.

Lee identifies four types of subject-object relationship: Original (everlasting, e.g., parents-children), Temporary (lecturer-audience, or wife taking on absent husband’s role), Alternating (dialogue with speaker/listener swapping), and Undetermined (humans freely choose which of two interdependent beings is subject — e.g., animals and plants exchanging CO2 and O2). The scheme is doing definitional work for the family-as-permanent-original-order argument while permitting flexibility in everyday relations.
