Claim. The tribal-messiah mission is the mechanism by which Pledge-1’s “seek our original homeland” becomes operative: each Blessed Family restores its own birthplace by performing as tribal messiah toward its biological clan.
Elaboration. SMM specifies the mission as homeland-restoration at clan scale: “How can we connect ourselves to the original homeland and to God? Your hometown is your birthplace, isn’t it? Everyone connects to the world horizontally, starting from the hometown. … We must find that position ourselves. We must get back there. Beginning from that point we should start our families and our tribes and continue on to the nation and the world” (1.3. Seeking our original homeland, 248-27 1993.5.30). The completed true-parents foundation makes this possible: “Because I have laid the worldwide foundation, you must lay the tribal-level foundation” (266-144 1994.12.22). The mission collapses the gap between the original homeland (Eden) and the actual hometown (the believer’s birthplace) by restoring the latter into the former through one’s own tribe: “Your birth mothers and fathers can stand in the position of being restored to the lineage of the parents who have reached perfection” (226-275 1992.2.9). The tribal messiah is therefore Pledge-1’s verb.
