Claim. Because medieval papal corruption blocked the restoration of human original nature, God divided the prevailing ideology of the Middle Ages into two countervailing trends — a Cain-type revival of Hellenism, which bore fruit in the Renaissance and Renaissance humanism, and an Abel-type revival of Hebraism, which bore fruit in the Protestant Reformation and Protestant faith — so that Cain-type Hellenism could later submit to Abel-type Hebraism on the worldwide level, establishing the foundation of substance for receiving Christ at the Second Advent.

Elaboration. Per Part 2 Ch 6 §1: late-medieval feudalism plus papal secularization repressed the original mind. Per the Principle of Creation, original nature has two aspects — external (freedom, autonomy, reason, science, the natural world, the practical life) and internal (devotion to God, faith). When God restores fallen people, He recreates the external first, then the internal — angels before humans, body before spirit, servant→servant-of-servants→adopted-child→true-child positions across the testamental ages.

Medieval Europeans accordingly pursued the external first, importing classical Greco-Roman heritage from the Muslims after the Crusades. This Cain-type movement became the Renaissance, originating in 14th-century Italy with humanism as its core. Then they pursued the internal, reviving Hebraism — beginning with Wycliffe (1324-1384, English Bible translator) and erupting in Luther’s 1517 protest against indulgences sold by Pope Leo X. Calvin (France), Zwingli (Switzerland), and movements in England and the Netherlands followed; the wars of religion ended at the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648.

The dispensational logic: just as God divided fallen Adam into Cain and Abel so Cain could submit to Abel and separate Satan (per cain-abel-pattern), God divided medieval thought into Cain-Hellenism and Abel-Hebraism so Cain-Hellenism could submit to Abel-Hebraism and separate Satan from the prevailing spirit. Renaissance humanism initially dominated, paralleling the OT-age phase when post-Babylon Hebraism was placed under Greek (333 BCE) then Roman (63 BCE) dominion. Only Cain-Hellenism’s worldwide submission to Abel-Hebraism can establish the foundation of substance for the Second Advent.

Significance. Fulfills the “two forms reserved for Ch 6” promise from dp-democracy-purpose-is-to-receive-messiah-by-will-of-the-people. The Hebraism/Hellenism polarity becomes DP’s distinguishing-mark for tracing Cain-side and Abel-side maturations through the next four centuries.
