Because Satan mimics God’s providence in advance, providential history calls for three stages of revolution in each of religion, politics, and economy — three renaissances (Renaissance → Enlightenment → historical materialism), three religious reformations (Luther → Wesley/Fox/Swedenborg → coming third reformation), three political revolutions (feudal collapse → destruction of absolutism → communist-world formation), and three industrial revolutions (steam → electricity → atomic power) — so a third religious reformation must follow the third (communist) renaissance to defeat the communist world and unite both worlds into the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
Elaboration. Per Part 2 Ch 6 §3.5: the Cain-type renaissance movement progressed through three escalating stages in Satan’s direction:
- First renaissance: Renaissance humanism.
- Second renaissance: the Enlightenment, extending humanism into Cain-side intellectual hegemony.
- Third renaissance: historical materialism, the core of communist ideology.
Because Satan-preemption presupposes a corresponding God-side providence, three stages of revolution operate in each sphere.
Religion: Luther’s Reformation after the first renaissance was the first reformation. The 17th–18th-c. spiritual movements led by the Wesley brothers, Fox, and Swedenborg (per dp-abel-type-view-of-life-matures-through-kantian-idealism-and-pietistic-revival) were the second reformation. A third reformation must follow the third renaissance — and “the state of today’s Christianity desperately calls for such a reformation.”
Politics: medieval feudal society collapsed under first renaissance + first reformation; absolute monarchy was destroyed by second renaissance + second reformation (per dp-cain-type-democracy-from-french-revolution-vs-abel-type-democracy-from-anglo-american-christianity); the communist world was formed by political revolutions of the third renaissance. Through the third reformation, the democratic world will triumph in the ideological war and bring the communist world to its knees; the two worlds will unite into the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
Industry: the first Industrial Revolution in England was based on the steam engine; the second, a century later, on electricity and the gasoline engine; the third Industrial Revolution will “flower by safely tapping the power of the atom” to construct a pleasant living environment for the ideal world.
Significance. Prophetic load-bearing claim. DP’s three-stage analysis self-identifies the predicted “third reformation” as imminent and structurally necessary, and predicts atomic power as the third Industrial Revolution. The unification of democratic and communist worlds through ideological victory — not military — is the providential blueprint for Last-Days resolution.
