Question. DP’s clan→feudal→monarchic developmental sequence applies to both OT Israel and NT Christendom. But DP’s prolongation-age phase also adds democracy as the post-monarchic stage. Does this entail a four-stage sequence (clan → feudal → monarchic → democratic) that the OT-age completed only through monarchic, leaving democratic as the unique-to-prolongation-age fourth stage? If so, what is the providential significance of the OT age not containing a democratic stage — was Israel-democracy not possible providentially before the resurrected Jesus had set up the spiritual foundation?
Why it matters. Tests whether DP’s developmental-stages doctrine is fixed (3-stages — clan/feudal/monarchic, with democracy being only a political-form refinement of monarchic) or extends to 4-stages (clan/feudal/monarchic/democratic as ontologically distinct providential epochs). If fixed-3, the parallel-period symmetry between OT and NT ages holds at the developmental-stage level. If extended-4, the NT age has a structurally distinct fourth stage that OT lacks — implying providence itself progresses beyond what the OT-age framework could support, and that the resurrected-Jesus + Holy-Spirit dispensation enables a new political form that pre-Jesus Israel could not have hosted.
Answer (Ch 2-5b + Ch 2-6a). DP’s commitment is the 4-stage reading: democracy is a structurally distinct providential epoch, not a refinement of monarchy. Three converging atomics establish this.
Per dp-providence-develops-society-through-clan-feudal-monarchic-stages (Ch 5B §7): DP names the three OT-age stages clan→feudal→monarchic. The OT age ended with the monarchic stage (united kingdom → divided kingdom → exile-return → messianic-preparation cycle). The NT age opened by re-entering clan stage (early Christian community) and progressed through the same three stages (feudal medieval → monarchic Christian empire → monarchic absolutism). DP does not extend the three-stage sequence beyond monarchic for the OT age — Israel’s history closes at the monarchic stage with the messianic-preparation period.
Per dp-democracy-purpose-is-to-receive-messiah-by-will-of-the-people (Ch 5B §7.2.6): democracy was born providentially to dismantle satanic monarchic monopolies and enable popular reception of the returning Messiah. This places democracy after monarchy in the NT age — a fourth stage, providentially distinct from monarchic. DP frames democracy as the political form capable of receiving the Second Advent in a way monarchy could not. The two-types-of-democracy claim further specifies that this fourth stage splits providentially (per Ch 6 §1’s Cain-Hellenism / Abel-Hebraism dispensation of separation, repeated at the political-form level).
Per dp-cain-type-democracy-from-french-revolution-vs-abel-type-democracy-from-anglo-american-christianity (Ch 6 §3.1): the post-monarchic democratic stage is explicitly one stage, not two — but it splits into Cain-type (French → totalitarian → communist endpoint) and Abel-type (Anglo-American → constitutional → democratic-world endpoint) trajectories. Both trajectories are inside the democratic stage; their endpoints are the two competing worldwide societies the Last-Days providence must resolve.
Per dp-three-renaissances-reformations-and-industrial-revolutions-predict-third-religious-reformation (Ch 6 §3.5): democracy’s internal development through three renaissances/reformations/revolutions also operates as a three-stage development within the fourth stage. So DP holds a 4-stage outer sequence (clan → feudal → monarchic → democratic) containing a 3-stage inner sequence (first/second/third renaissance) for the fourth (democratic) stage.
Resolution of the OT-asymmetry. The OT age lacked a democratic stage because the spiritual foundation enabling popular reception of a Messiah-figure had not yet been established. Only after the resurrected Jesus + the Holy Spirit established the spiritual foundation could the NT age progress beyond monarchic into democratic political forms capable of receiving the returning Messiah. Democracy is a prolongation-age-specific providential form — DP’s eschatology requires democracy as the political infrastructure for the Second Advent in a way that no OT-age form could have hosted Jesus’s first advent (which arrived during Roman monarchic-imperial dominance and was rejected by Jewish leadership).
Status of further questions. The Cain-side/Abel-side split within the democratic stage raises the further question: do prior stages (clan, feudal, monarchic) also have Cain/Abel sub-splits? The answer appears to be yes (per Cain-side Babylonian clan vs Abel-side Hebrew clan; Cain-side feudal Satan-preempted vs Abel-side feudal Israelite/medieval-Christian) but DP’s level of operational specification for those splits is much lower than for the democratic-stage split. The democratic-stage Cain/Abel split is uniquely operationally vivid because it specifies named nations (France/Russia vs Britain/America) and named ideologies (Marxism-Leninism vs constitutional Christian democracy).
