Elaboration. Lee derives circular motion as a metaphysical necessity from the structure of give-and-receive (C. Mode of Existence). When two elements in subject-object relation engage in give-and-receive centered on common purpose, the center of motion is not midway between them but within the subject itself. Therefore the object must move around the subject, producing subject-centered circular motion. He confirms empirically: electrons around nuclei, planets around the sun.
The deeper warrant is theological. There is no time, space, or motion in God; but the give-and-receive between Original Sungsang and Original Hyungsang has a round and harmonious nature. When this roundness is expressed in time and space, it becomes circular motion. Lee then makes the explicit identification: ‘Harmonious give and receive action is the expression of love centered on Heart. In other words, circular motion symbolizes the roundness and, at the same time, the love in God. Love has no corners or angles, and is expressed in a circular form.’
Lee extends this aesthetically: spheres are the typical form of God’s appearance. Water in any container takes that container’s shape, but a falling drop assumes a sphere — its typical form. Similarly God can manifest as waves, wind, fire, but the typical form is spherical. Hence atoms, the earth, moon, sun, stars are spheres; plants and animals start from spherical seeds and eggs.
A second argument for circular motion is purely structural: if the object moved in a straight line away from the subject, give-and-receive would terminate; sustained give-and-receive requires circulation. So circular motion is doubly necessary — both as symbolic expression of divine roundness/love and as logical condition for sustained give-and-receive.
The move is striking: physics becomes iconography. Orbits are not just dynamical solutions to gravitational equations but expressions of love. Critics will find this an over-reading; UT replies that scientific lawfulness is precisely the medium through which divine character is expressed.
