Claim. The Age of the Prolongation of the Providence of Restoration — from Jesus to the Second Advent — was divided into six providential periods totaling roughly 2000 years, each a substantial parallel restoring the corresponding period of the Old Testament Age. The periods are mapped onto Western Christian history: 400-year Roman persecution, 400-year regional church leadership, 120-year Christian (Carolingian) empire, 400-year divided kingdoms of east and west, 210-year papal exile and return, 400-year preparation for the Second Advent.

Elaboration. Per Part 2 Ch 4 §4:

  • 400 years Roman persecution (to ~313/392 CE) — restoring foundation-of-faith lost by Jewish rejection of Jesus. Parallel to Egyptian slavery.
  • 400 years regional church leadership (~392–800 CE) — patriarchs, bishops, abbots functioning as the judges did. Parallel to the judges-period.
  • 120 years Christian empire (800–919 CE) — Carolingian Empire from Charlemagne’s enthronement to the end of his eastern royal line. Parallel to the united kingdom.
  • 400 years divided kingdoms of east and west (919–1309 CE) — Holy Roman Empire (east) and France (west). Parallel to the divided kingdoms of north and south.
  • 210 years papal exile and return (1309–1517 CE) — Avignon papacy and the period until the Reformation. Parallel to the Babylonian exile and return.
  • 400 years preparation for the Second Advent (1517 onward) — beginning with Luther’s Reformation, “lasted until the eve of the Second Advent of Christ on the earth.” Parallel to inter-testamental preparation.

Same 120 → 400 → 210 → 400 cascade as the OT age, with the image-to-substantial escalation per dp-providential-parallels-progress-from-symbolic-to-image-to-substantial.

Significance. DP’s most operationally falsifiable chronology claim. It identifies specific historical events (Carolingian succession crisis ~919, Avignon papacy 1309, Reformation 1517) as providential period-boundaries. The implicit Second Advent dating — 400 years from 1517 — places it at ~1917 CE, the temporal anchor for DP’s claim that Sun Myung Moon (born 1920) is the Christ at the Second Advent.

The doctrine also commits DP to a Western Christian providential history. Eastern Orthodoxy, the Church of the East, and global Christianity outside Latin Christendom do not fit the periodization — a parking-thread issue.
